From NBC Sports: Penguins Meet With State Officials To Discuss Arena Deal I'm going to assume that this means that the state is trying to keep the Penguins in Pittsburgh.

Heh well they've had years to try, and this is a bit late. Let's see if they can pull it off. |

I think that the Penguins are still looking for a new owner is going to help this deal go through. With a new arena and lease, it will give the current owners more time to find a buyer, and, if the new arena helps to improve attendance, it might also increase the desirability of the team to a new owner. If a new owner takes over now, though, I think the odds are greatly increased of the team moving out of the state. |

Either Cougar or Electricbolt will correct me on this, but I believe Kansas City is the frontrunner. By the way, welcome to the board! |

KC is really the only runner. Oklahoma City is interested but said they won't pursue. And Kitchener was rumoured. But really KC has a brand new arena already built and awaiting a team, thus making them the best contender. |
