With Friday’s win in Wilkes-Barre, the BEARS also have won the American Hockey League’s MacGregor Kilpatrick Trophy, given to the AHL’s regular season points champion. The award, instituted by the AHL in 1997, is named for the longtime member of the AHL Board of Governors who also served as the AHL’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel. The 2006-07 season marks the first time since the 1987-88 campaign that the BEARS have won the regular season points championship and just the seventh time in the 69-year history of the franchise. (1942-43, 1946-47 (tied), 1957-58, 1980-81, 1985-86, 1987-88)
