The Friendly Confines have never seemed friendlier, and that's a big reason why the Cubs are the best team in baseball entering June for the first time in 100 years.

Alfonso Soriano homered, Jim Edmonds drove in two runs, and the Chicago Cubs beat the reeling Colorado Rockies 5-3 on Sunday to complete a perfect seven-game homestand.

The Cubs entered June with the best record in baseball for the first time since 1908, when they last won a World Series. They started the new month by finishing a four-game sweep of the defending National League champions and sending them to their seventh straight loss.

Chicago is 26-8 at Wrigley Field after wrapping up its first perfect homestand of at least seven games since April 14-26, 1970. Now, they'll try to establish some momentum away from home.

Hmm...let's see what happens when it actually matters. Though the Cubs fans are probably excited about this...do something that hasn't been done since the last time they won a World Series? Yeah, I'd be excited if I was them...at least for a day anyway.

Cubs are still best in the NL?

Regardless, two teams that are shockers to be best in the league.

I think it is a surprise to see the Rays doing this good. I figured they would be better this year and maybe be a couple games under .500 . I didn't foresee them being this good.

As for the Cubs, I am not surprised. I looked at their roster at the beginning of the year, and their division didn't look to great either. I expected them to be making the playoffs this year.

Like I said before, let's wait until the games actually mean something.

I don't remember the last time the World Series was decided in May or June.

I'd also like to say it's the best record which doesn't automatically mean they are the best team...see: Hawaii's past football season.

I don't think anyone seen Colorado coming last year, so anything can happen (unless you're Seattle? )

By record, the Rays are the best, but if I'd have to say who is the best team, it would probably be Boston.
