Breakers Find Home at Harvard; Harvard To Host WPS Franchise

The Boston Breakers announced yesterday that Harvard Stadium will be the home of the Women's Pro Soccer (WPS) franchise, and a year from this Saturday will be the club's first match in the newly reformed league.

Joe Cummings, president of the Breakers, called the announcement "an exciting day for the franchise. Now we can talk about where we are going to be playing, and now have season ticket packages set up for purchase on our web site."

Harvard Stadium, which has a capacity of just over 30,000, was revamped in 2006 with a new FieldTurf surface identical to the one the Breakers played on at Nickerson Field at Boston University in the old WUSA. The stadium can be configured for smaller crowds, with the Breakers hoping to draw about 10,000-12,000 - which is what they were drawing at Nickerson, one of the biggest average crowds in WUSA.
