It's a spin off of WeatherMan's and my favorite thread in the College Football area.

There are 5 BCS bowl games: Fiesta, Orange, Rose, Sugar and the Title Game.

In general, the Fiesta will take the Big 12 champion, Orange gets the ACC champion, Rose has Big Ten and Pac-10 champs, Sugar has the SEC champion. However, that changes with the Title Game as that automatically gets #1 vs. #2. The bowls that lose their tie in to the championship get first choices for replacements. The Big East does not have a BCS bowl tie in, but the champion gets an automatic bid to a BCS game.

We already know Ohio State has clinched a spot as the Big Ten champion. So, unless we have complete chaos in the next few weeks, they will go to the Rose Bowl. But what about the other 9 spots? Predict away.

WE ARE...PENN STATE!

A columnist for FoxSports.com yesterday was predicting the Fiesta Bowl to be Penn State vs. Boise State, that we'd get an at-large.

Wow. I guess I can see the reasoning. PSU does have a fan base that will travel well. However, I feel like the Fiesta would want to take a Big 12 team as a replacement if it's entirely possible. Since Oklahoma State is #12 right now in the BCS (ahead of both Iowa and Penn State), I give them the edge for now. Then, the Fiesta would take either Boise State or Texas Christian, whichever one the Orange doesn't. But should OkSt stumble, then yeah, the Nits just might get in the Fiesta.

National Championship: Florida vs. Texas
Rose Bowl: Ohio State vs. Oregon
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma State vs Cincinnati
Orange Bowl: Georgia Tech vs. Texas Christian
Sugar Bowl: Alabama vs. Boise State

Oregon is as good as a lock in the PAC 10 right now. Rose Bowl matchup is easy. For the Fiesta and Sugar Bowls, I put the second place conference teams in the place of the champions who will be in the title game. Boise State-Alabama is a rather mouth-watering matchup, so I put them together. The other two were essentially toss-ups, so I just threw them in wherever works. However, given the proximity of TCU and OKState, I could see the possibility of putting the two against each other for the local flavor. But that's how I see that it could happen at the moment.

With Oklahoma State's loss to Oklahoma today, I no longer believe OkSt will be in the Fiesta.

Fiesta: Boise State vs. Iowa
Orange: Georgia Tech vs. Texas Christian
Rose: Ohio State vs. Oregon
Sugar: Alabama vs. Cincinnati
Title Game: Florida vs. Texas

At the moment, it's a toss up with Iowa and Penn State. I give the slight edge to Iowa for now, not because of Iowa's win, but with this being their first BCS bowl game in however long, I'd imagine there'd be a lot of excitement so many fans would go.

As of now, there are really 8 of the 10 BCS bowl spots accounted for with the 6 BCS automatic conferences, the Alabama/Florida loser, and whoever ends up higher between Boise State and Texas Christian since they are both above 12th place. Suppose Nebraska beats Texas in the Big 12 title game. Nebraska goes to the Fiesta as the Big 12 representative, Texas would likely get an at large spot either in the Orange or Sugar. That would put either an unbeaten Boise State or Texas Christian at risk of losing a spot to a 2 loss Big Ten team. Think that won't happen? It did last year when 2 loss Ohio State went to the Fiesta instead of unbeaten Boise State.

Really the only question marks at this point are who the Fiesta will take for both spots and where Cincinnati and Texas Christian go. Other than that, the Rose and Title game are all set, Florida will most likely go to the Sugar and Georgia Tech will be in the Orange Bowl.

Some are suggesting that things will be interesting should TCU overtake Texas, since the latter only beat Nebraska by three. However, I don't see that happening.

Or I could have waited to open my mouth and checked the rankings first. No dice, Texas is number two, TCU three.
