And so, the march to World Domination is on….

Unfortunately, it's the wrong country that seems to be taking over these days.

The United States of America last night put an end to any Canadian hopes of a record sixth straight gold medal in the World Junior Hockey Championship when the fleet, sometimes panicking young Americans pulled off an upset 6-5 overtime victory over the defending champions and pre-tournament favourites.

The win dampened an incredible Canadian comeback late in the third that saw Jordan Eberle, the clutch hero of last year's gold medal victory in Ottawa, score twice to force the overtime.

“It's huge,” said an ecstatic Jerry D'Amigo, who scored the fourth goal for Team U.S.A. “To come out with a win here is great for us, for the U.S.”

The last three Canada-USA world junior games have been some of the best hockey I have ever seen in my life.

The New Years Eve game was crazy, from what I can remember, well watching the highlights the next day, I can see it was crazy

The final game...Canada in the third was embarassing, the first half at least. They should've changed goalies sooner. Instead they were down by 2....the most clutch player I have ever witnessed, Jordan Eberle, tied it up with back to back goals to give Canada a chance by sending it to OT.

However, the one bad thing about the Juniors is the format for OT. In a gold medal game, they apparently go with 4 on 4 hockey and then a shootout. 4 on 4 hockey for the gold medal? Are you kidding me? Now Canada lost legitimately but the 4 on 4 cost them on the USA game winning goal.

So for all the good that comes out of the World Juniors, let's fix the OT format, at least for a medal game.

Also, like usual, Canada dominated every round robin game, but I believe that cost them in the end...they needed to struggled against somebody and the New Years Eve game wasn't enough.

Four-on-four? Freaking nuts. That'd be like the NFL or MLS playing seven-on-seven for overtime or the NBA playing 3v3. You can't change the game.

Well in the NHL during the season they go to 4 on 4 for their short 5 min OT period. That's understandable. But when playoff comes they change it to 5 on 5 because they want the game to be genuine.
